Whilst parts of the UK experience very high levels of immigration, other parts, such as Cornwall, have very little migration. This has a knock-on effect of the provision of immigration services. Immigration advisers or immigration solicitors are unlikely to set up in Cornwall due to the extremely small client base, whilst those that live in Cornwall and do need immigration advice cannot find it.
It is important that if you do instruct an immigration adviser or immigration solicitor in Cornwall, that you find out what experience they have with dealing with the Home Office and making immigration applications. It is highly unlikely that a solicitor based in Cornwall will make very many immigration applications or have dealt with immigration at all. Immigration is not straightforward area of law and if a lawyer has only practised in Cornwall, it’s likely that they have little immigration experience.
It’s also worth noting that immigration law changes very rapidly, it’s one of the fastest changing areas of law with the Immigration Rules, case law, and fees(!) changing regularly. Therefore an immigration solicitor the practised immigration more than 10 years ago will not have the expertise needed to complete an application in current times.
At Immigration Joss, regular trips are made to Cornwall in order to provide immigration advice to the small amount of people that need immigration advice in Cornwall.
